DENNIS M. ASTILL, J.D.

Dennis AstillDennis began his legal practice over 25 years ago, becoming Shareholder and President and CEO of Strong & Hanni, PC in downtown Salt Lake City, before forming the Astill Law Office in Sandy in 2005. In addition to his law practice, from 2006 to 2010, Dennis was the general manager and counsel for Anderson Geneva Development, Inc., managing the redevelopment of the former Geneva Steel plant.

Education: Dennis received his law degree from Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School in April, 1978, graduating cum laude and was admitted to the Utah State Bar Association in 1978.

Ratings and Memberships: Rated AV with the Martindale-Hubbell ratings service. Member of Who’s Who of International Attorneys, Who’s Who of Real Estate Attorneys. Member of the Business Law, Tax and Estate Planning Sections of the Utah State Bar Association. Former Chairman of the Tax Section of the Utah State Bar (1987). Former Member of the Legislative Committee for State Corporate Tax Revision. Former Professor of Taxation at the Washington College of Law.

Practice Areas:Dennis focuses his practice on corporations, limited liability companies (LLCs), company formation, wills and trusts, federal estate tax, estate planning, asset protection planning, and general business law. Dennis has extensive experience negotiating and drafting contracts for business transactions of all types, business acquisitions and business mergers, for both private and public companies and companies with local and national or international business activities. Dennis’ prior association with a large litigation firm has given him a unique perspective to business planning and dispute resolution.

Other Activities: In addition to his law practice, Dennis is involved in lawyer and accountant education as a speaker at seminars on corporations, limited liability companies, wills and trusts, tax and estate planning, asset protection, and other business topics. Dennis is currently the Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Community Development Corporation, an organization dedicated to providing affordable homes to lower income persons. He has also served in many positions with the Boy Scouts of America.
